Ask the Governor to Stop Mountaintop Removal in West Virginia
The trees have already been clearcut, and Massey Energy is continuing to prepare to blast off the top of Coal River Mountain.
The Coal River Wind Project has done research to demonstrate that a wind farm on top of the mountain could generate approximately 1.2% of West Virginia's total energy needs, create 300 jobs in the area and generate a long-term tax revenue stream. But once the blasting begins, the possibility for the wind farm diminishes.
Rainforest Action Network is asking people to call West Virginia Governor Manchin and ask to stop the mountain’s destruction. The number is 888-438-2731; RAN also provides talking points on their Web site.
