Meet in NYC: Cool the Planet, Heat Up the Economy
On September 21 in New York City, unions and concerned citizens will join together to call for determined global action on climate change. That action must create good "green" jobs and advance social justice.
The purpose of “Jobs, Justice, Climate” is to send a strong message from the labor community and its allies to world leaders assembled at the UN. The message: Now is not the time for small plans. We need a fair and ambitious new global treaty to reduce emissions. We also need strong legislation at home to drive the green economy, create jobs and rebuild communities.
Attending the event will be AFL-CIO leader Richard Trumka, as well as former Irish PM Mary Robinson, Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed and legendary folk singer Judy Collins.
Register now for the event, which will take place at the Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th St at Central Park West, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. Registration is free.
Cornell Global Labor Institute is organizing this event in conjunction with the Global Campaign on Climate Action as part of Climate Week NYC.
