350.org's Global Day of Action is October 24

Posted by sbopp at October 16, 2009 03:00 PM |

Just six days to go until the International Day of Climate Action: a worldwide grassroots movement intended to jumpstart global transformation on climate protection. Already more than 3,000 climate-related actions are planned in more than 150 countries, from a walkathon in Jamaica, to a tree-planting in Ghana, to a bike rally in Bangladesh. More events are added every day.

The day’s mission: to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis—to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet.

The focus is on the number 350 because that’s the level, in parts per million, scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. But 350 is more than a number, the organizers say – it's a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.

Join people around the globe to make your voice heard: sign up to participate in a climate action near you, or start one of your own, at www.350.org.

And don’t forget to spread the word: the Tell-A-Friend tool on the Web site can help.

About Energy Rebellion

There is good reason for the titans of the American energy industry to be concerned. In the political war to clear the air of climate changing emissions and pursue clean energy development, environmental and public interest organizations are gaining reforms, new policy, and extraordinary momentum in and outside Washington.
