Byrd Joins Pelosi and Reid; Wants Natural Gas-Fired Capitol Power Plant

Sen. Byrd (D-WV), a long-time advocate of using coal at the Capitol Power Plant, said last Friday he now supports powering the DC plant with natural gas. The statement came just days before the Capitol Climate Action, a major anti-coal protest at the Capitol Power Plant being held today just south of the House office buildings on Capitol Hill. Byrd's statement came a day after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) made a similar assertion and said they want the plant to be retrofitted for natural gas by the end of the year.  Read more at E&E (sub'd req.)
