Earth Will Warm for at Least 1,000 Years

Global warming would continue to increase for at least 1,000 years even if we stopped emitted greenhouse gas emissions immediately, said researchers with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), last Wednesday. This will result in devastating droughts and sea-level rises. Under a conservative projection, many coastal areas and island are destined to become submerged. Previous scientific analysis, including by the UN, have assessed climate change impacts on a 100-year scale. "The more time that we take to make decisions about carbon dioxide, the more irreversible climate change we'll be locked into," said NOAA senior scientist Susan Solomon.  Read more at Washington Post
