EPA: U.S. Emissions Rose in 2007

U.S. emissions rose by 1.4 percent in 2007, primarily due to increased emissions from fuel and electricity consumption, said a draft EPA report released last week. EPA attributed the increases to a cooler winter and warmer summer in 2007 compared to other recent years. Between 1990 and 2007, U.S. carbon dioxide emissions have rose 20.2 percent, while methane emissions dropped by 6.2 percent. The report will soon be open for a 30-day public comment period.
