Failed Inhofe Amendment Would Have Blocked Funding for United Nations
Senator Inhofe (R-OK) proposed an amendment to the omnibus spending bill (H.R. 1105) to block U.S. funding to the United Nations, but it was rejected by the Senate, 43-51. "It should remain the policy of the United States to oppose international taxation," said Inhofe in a statement when announcing the amendment. While the amendment had little chance of passing, it demonstrates how opponents are already setting their sights on the UN climate negotiations in Copenhagen this December. Read more at CQ Politics
