Montana Utility "Deferring" Coal-Plant Because Climate Regulatory Uncertainty

Southern Montana Electric Generation and Cooperative is holding off on developing a 250-megawatt coal plant in favor of a smaller natural gas plant instead. SME General Manager Tim Gregori said that the "regulatory uncertainty" surrounding anticipated climate legislation made it impossible for the plant to move forward at this time. Cost projections had almost doubled since the plant was first proposed in 2005. Read more at Great Falls Tribune
