Potential for Abrupt Climate Change, Says US Geological Survey Report
The United States could suffer the effects of "abrupt climate change" within decades, says a new US Geological Survey report. The assessment, authored by a team of climate scientists from the federal government and academia, says that if the melting of polar ice sheets continues to accelerate that an ongoing drought in the U.S. west could be the start of a permanent drying of the region. Using more current data, the researchers also reported that IPCC's maximum estimate of two feet sea level by 2100 may be exceeded. Read more at Environmental Protection
