UN Secretary-General Pushes for Imminent Head-of-State Negotiations
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for an unprecedented meeting of world leaders to discuss a new framework for tackling climate change, to ensure negotiations move quickly in preparation for the UN climate conference in Copenhagen this December. Building on the momentum of Obama's inauguration, Ban hopes to convene 30 to 40 heads of state this February or March to discuss key issues such as setting targets and commitments for both developed and developing countries as well as financing for poor countries.
