Lima Climate Change Negotiations 2014


The 20th Conference of the Parties (COP 20) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held from December 1 to 14, 2014, in Lima, Peru. Delegates from over 190 nations from around the world, along with civil society representatives, met to discuss next steps in international climate policy. The Lima COP was seen as important step on the road toward a new international climate agreement, which will be agreed upon at the 21st UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP 21) in Paris, France, in 2015. September 2014: Climate Summit and Mobilisation


September 2014 was a month to remember for the climate movement. On September 23, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon convened a historic Climate Summit of world leaders in New York City. Two days earlier and just a few blocks away, four hundred thousand people filled the streets of New York in the largest climate march ever, called the People’s Climate March. Others gathered as well during Climate Week 2014, which was a concentration of climate-related events spanning all sectors of society, which occurred on the margins of the UN General Assembly and Climate Summit.
